Fischer Piano Studio

Studio Policies

Thank you for choosing me as your child’s piano teacher! In order to ensure that your child receives lessons uniquely tailored to their needs and gets the most effective teaching possible, I have established the following policies.

  • Most students will require 45-minute lessons. Shorter 30-minute lessons for grades 1-3 may be allowed at the discretion of the teacher.
  • Tuition is due by the first lesson of each month. A $15 fee will be assessed for late payments.
  • The months of May-June-July will be comprised of convention rehearsals, group classes, and private lessons.
  • Missed lessons will be made up as space is available in the event of inclement weather or teacher/student illness via rescheduled lesson if possible or remotely (Zoom/FaceTime/FaceBook Messenger/WhatsApp). Missed lessons are not refundable.
  • If for any reason you must stop lessons, one month’s notice is required.

Other Fees

As a teacher and member of the Texas Music Teachers Association, I require students to be enrolled as Student Affiliate members as well. This provides them with access to state and local events.

My Music Staff

Each student and parent has their own portal on My Music Staff. This is a great resource for lesson notes, copies of music, practice logs, online video lesson links, and many more. Please familiarize yourself with your portal to aid in parent/teacher/student communication. You can access the portal at fischerpiano.mymusicstaff.com.

Equipment and Practice

  • Piano students must have a piano in order to take piano lessons. There are many options available – purchase, rental, acoustic, digital. If you decide to use a digital piano, please make sure it has all 88 weighted keys and a damper pedal.
  • Regular practice is required! Each student has an individualized practice plan. Parents/supervising adults are required to monitor and make sure students are fulfilling their practice obligation. Practice logs will be completed each week and signed by the parent/supervising adult.

GPMTA/TMTA Activities

Piano lessons function like most student extracurricular activities. Students are expected to participate in practice and performance. While many activities are individual in nature, some are group oriented. Each student is a vital team member and will be expected to participate in practices and events.
